Rebecca Horsley Bara

Rebecca Horsley BaraPower, balance, and flow are the essence of Rebecca Horsley Bara's teaching style. Offering a lighthearted but rigorous power yoga vinyasa flow series, Rebecca unites a diverse yoga community through her teaching.

She teaches yoga with clarity, confidence, and compassion. Her passion for yoga and her enthusiasm for teaching are evident in her energetic, dynamic style as she links poses together in a powerful, balanced, flowing sequence. She creates a supportive and challenging class environment where participants are encouraged to explore their physical edge and discover their own inner strength. Her classes are high energy, filled with groans, smiles, great music and lots of heart.

Rebecca has completed teacher training levels I and II with Power Yoga innovator Baron Baptiste. Constantly refining her practice and knowledge of yoga, Rebecca has studied with and continues to learn from many other great teachers including Rusty Wells, Shiva Rae, and Jonny Kest. Rebecca is the Santa Clara County site director for The Art of Yoga Project, a progressive non-profit organization that brings yoga, art and healing to young women in the California Juvenile Corrections System. She is also a contributing author for The Open to Hope Foundation, an online organization providing healing resources to those suffering from grief and loss.

Edna Barr

Edna BarrEdna was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where her formal introduction to movement began at age 5 at The Punahou Academy of Dance. She soon took up martial arts, another discipline that combines grace with strength.

Leading such a disciplined and active lifestyle naturally led Edna to a career as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer, where she could share her passion for movement along with her compassion and understanding of what it feels like to struggle to reach and maintain one's personal goals.

As rewarding as this career was, there was still something missing that her soul was craving. She found it in her first sun salutation in a vinyasa yoga class. Even with a lifetime of physical fitness and the spiritual discipline of martial arts, Edna still faced the same challenges as every other beginner to yoga. In 2007, a lower back surgery brought a whole new learning curve to her practice.

With 20 years of teaching experience—coupled with the influences of master instructors Anirudh Shastri, Shiva Rea, Duncan Wong, and many Bay Area greats—Edna has developed a creative and lighthearted yet challenging style where everyone can continue to grow in their practice.

Carrie Brackin

Carrie's love of yoga began when a close friend brought her to her first Bikram class. Being a competitive soccer player since the age of 10, she figured yoga would be a simple workout, something on the side to "de-stress" and "meditate." After that first class she was in love. The physical/emotional/mind/body connection was something she had never experienced in any other exercise form. Besides loving the heat, the structured sequence of the Bikram practice was an ideal fit for her.

From that point on, Carrie has expanded her yoga practice into different forms including Anusura, Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Power Yoga. While her first love is Bikram, she is also now a strong practitioner of Power Yoga. She took YogaSource's teacher training in 2008 and has been teaching Bikram Yoga ever since. Carrie's Bikram class consists of strategic music picks to create a general flow from each of the 26 poses. Carrie plans to expand her practice and teaching hours in the coming years. "Yoga has changed my life, my views, my body and mind. I want to be able to share this with my students each and every day."

Giselle Mari

Giselle Mari is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti teacher whose introduction to yoga in the early '90s was a natural progression from her gymnastics/dance background, her passion for music, and being raised by a bohemian flamenco dancer. She's known for her sustainable and insightful classes that infuse funky eclectic music, chanting, skillful and intuitive hands-on assists, and a down to earth approach to life and the practice of yoga. The experience invites the student to explore and investigate perceived limitations with an open heart and humor to facilitate the allowing of "what is." Studied in Yin yoga as well, she appreciates the potency of this practice and enjoys coalescing these two powerful methods to create a visceral balance positively influencing how we see ourselves and the world.

Bill Osmer

Bill took his first yoga class, a Triyoga class, in 1984 and within minutes felt reconnected to something deep within himself. As challenging and fun as the physical aspects of the class were, it was the profoundly peaceful relaxation and meditation that captivated him the most. So much so that within a few months he decided to leave college to devote himself entirely to the practice and study of yoga. He realized that what he wanted to learn and experience in life is not taught at college. And so, for the next several years he spent every day in yoga practice. He was certified to teach in 1988 in the Triyoga method, and has been a full-time teacher ever since. Over the last decades he has developed his own style based on the experience of teaching 25,000 classes at yoga studios, gyms, businesses and privately.

Bill believes that yoga exists to help humans physically, mentally and spiritually. The yoga teacher's duty is to draw upon the vastness of yoga postures, flows, breathing and meditational practices and select what is right at that moment for each student or class.

He met his spiritual Guru Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji in 1990, and that relationship has had a profound effect personally that is reflected in his teaching style. He has traveled extensively with Sri Swamiji throughout the world as well as to India to further his knowledge of yoga, kriya yoga and healing aspects of music that are subtly integrated in his teaching.

Bill is also a clinical Ayurvedic specialist and incorporates this knowledge of Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, into his classes and private lessons.

Kim Shetter

Kim Shetter

Kim decided early in her yoga teaching that it makes sense to teach the kind of class she likes to take: one with music, movement, and enough challenges to justify that final sivasana. She received her training in Phoenix, Arizona, where teachers David Romanelli and Michael Kendall were offering a style of yoga, based on music and flow, that seemed right to her. She has also been inspired by Vinnie Marino in Santa Monica and others in Los Angeles whose classes combine precise alignment with inspired transitions set to some really great music.

Her background in alignment principles comes from her Anusara training with Jordan and Martin Kirk. She is grateful to all her teachers for their help and inspiration. She is especially grateful to the mind training and meditation teachers she has studied with over the years in workshops and on retreats. A quiet mind in a flexible body: priceless.

Kristine Tom

Kristine began practicing yoga in 2001 with Bryan Kest in Santa Monica and instantly found her calling. "Rather than being drawn to the mat by the physical benefits, I found myself more open and aware to the energetic, emotional, and psychological gifts of being connected to my body through the breath." Since completing Mark Stephen's Vinyasa teacher training in 2008, Kristine has begun sharing the gifts of yoga with the peninsula community.

Her style is a strong, dynamic, fluid vinyasa flow. This class will build strength, patience, and balance by emphasizing awareness on the breath in an effort to free the mind from the constant chatter, while freeing the body of physical tension and holdings. Students of all levels are encouraged to explore their practice based on their individual needs. "Above all else I hope to inspire others to have more gratitude, both on and off the mat." -Kristine
